If you’ve ever read or seen Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, when you first see open the wrapper you might get all excited and think you’re about to get to go explore THE WORLD’S MOST EXCITING CANDY FACTORY!!!!!!! But then you will remember that that was just a book/movie and you will realize all you’ve won here is the chance to eat some kind-of-scary chocolate.

Oh, but if you get it, yours won’t have a purple circle on it. I just did that to the picture because that guy’s my favorite.

This is  my mug. I got this mug a couple years ago at a Starbucks in Washington DC when my friend Jenn got married. It was on sale half-prince because it’s a Valentines Day mug and I bought it after Valentines Day. When I bought the mug I remember thinking something about how now I would be one of those people who has a favorite big mug, just like someone’s high school English teacher. I felt pretty good about this.

I am sick of this mug now, though. I am sick of the pink and the brown and the swirly hearts. I think my next mug will look something like THIS:

Only the brown part won’t just be regular brown, it will be METALLIC.

This place is only a few blocks from my house. Many other businesses have been in this same location, none lasting very long so far as I can tell. Earlier this year there was a big gold satin sign up above the door with PSYCHIC written in bronzey colored script. I never saw anyone go in, although once I saw a man standing in front of the door staring up at the sign looking very confused, as though he’d been expecting it to say something else. After a minute or so he turned and walked away.

Like many of life’s monumental moments, it happened suddenly and without warning: One day my roommate just came home with it and then all of the sudden that old sad stained oven mitt that had been marginally ruining my mood whenever I saw it for two entire years could be hidden in a cupboard and now I will never have to look at it ever again. And instead I get to look at this new one and its smiley pot handle face.

I got the penguin and it was indeed very soft. The kind of soft that made me want to put it in my mouth and chew on it like a gummy bear. But I didn’t. The penguin is a toy. NOT FOOD!

On a friendlier, happier note, here is a picture of two napkins that are hanging out on the floor of the cafe I’m sitting at. Good old napkins, always cleaning up whatever spills you ask them to, and never trying to scam you with fake bank checks. Thanks, napkins!

F}I will also like to know Your payment mode.
G}I will like to know if I can make an advance payment ahead my arrival that will be stand as a kind of commitment that I am truely coming over and for you to hold the room down for me.

I wonder how long it will be before someone moves it? I hope no one will move it for a very long time!

Although I can understand why someone might argue that there shouldn’t just be a donut hole sitting there,  I kind of like it. If you ask me, it’s really the next best thing to a doorman.

I took this from the window of Filene’s Basement in Union Square. Then I went and tried on some clothes. The lady in the dressing room was very mad at everyone in the dressing room, and also the store, and all of these people in Union Square BUT DON’T WORRY SHE PROBABLY WASN’T MAD AT YOU BECAUSE I DOUBT YOU WERE EVEN THERE!!!! I got a skirt. I have a feeling that it is the kind of thing where I’ll hang it up in the closet and then forget about it for a while and then one day I’ll be trying to figure out to wear and be all HEY! How did YOU get in here?!?! And it’ll feel like someone left me a surprise present.

LOOK AT IT!!! YEAH LOOK AT IT!!!!! No your eyes are not fooling you and no that’s not a giant cup, it’s just that THAT IS A TINY LIME IN THERE!!!!!!! Also in there is some seltzer, passion fruit juice, and some ice. It is the very best summer drink in the world and I made it up all by myself. You should make one I think that you will like it!

Also here are some tips! It’s best to drink it out of a clear cup with a straw and it’s good if the straw is green to match the lime, although not completely necessary.

I can’t tell if the people who made this sign are trying to be friendly and are not fluent in English, or if they are being mean and sarcastic, of this sign is meant to be directed to their existing clientèle like “good news guys! while you are eating your dumplings and day-old-sushi you will not be bothered by any of those poor shlubs who cannot afford food but have to pee!”

When I was little they had a contest at my Hebrew school to name the Hebrew school newspaper. I entered about 230483084932 times, but the only entry I remember was “News, news and more news.” Surprisingly enough, this did not win.

Is this a water pump? Or a heater? Or a holder for old nail -clippings? A tiny bomb shelter? A bulletproof tube suit? A place to post signs? A place to balance some stuff on? A thing to put on top of some other stuff? THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS!

Now I’m starting to wonder if whoever is putting up these signs is part of some religious group. See, in the last month or so, since I first called the number,  I’ve been receiving automated phone calls from some preacher guy telling me he has a message for me from ” god” and I have to go to his church to get it. Hmmm. Coincidence? Hard to say. Because, see I dialed *67 before I dialed this number to block the caller ID. So in theory that should make me immune to ending up on some sort of calling list, but I suppose it’s always possible that they have some sort of caller ID blocker basher technology. Maybe “god” gave it to them.

ON AND BY THE WAY I was wrong before when I thought my plant was a bunch of little plants living together. NOPE! I was assuming a shamrock was the same thing as a clover, and since there were a lot of little green things here that this was just a bunch off clovers that WF was calling a shamrock. Not so as it turns out. A shamrock plant grows out of a bulb. Not seeds. So there you go.
